Random Reading Challenge

Hi there!
I have been feeling the need to challenge myself to read more lately. I love to read, but find myself either stuck on the computer or doing one thing after another instead of reading. I almost feel guilty taking the time to read when there are so many things to be done. But I recently gave a friend the advice that you have to do something you love for yourself, or you will not be truly happy. I guess it is time for me to take my own advice. (Always harder to take than to give.)
Well, here goes! I signed up for my first reading challenge on another blog. I will post the link at the end. It randomly chooses fromyour list of books and tells you which to read. It has 3 levels for all types of readers and allows you the ease of just reading for the joy of it. I recommend this one to all fellow busy people. If you try this one let me know how it goes for you and if you like it.
Also, if you have any other challenges you are doing please send them this way so I can check them out.

Vampires and the women who hunt them.

Hello there kittens.
I am currently reading Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton. I had been reluctant to this series for a while. A lot of people had been telling me that since I liked the Twilight series, I should read this series. But really, how was I supposed to go from loving a vampire to killing them. It just seemed like too big a jump, and not really my style. Well, I saw a few episodes of the True Blood show, and decided to read the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. I LOVE them. They are great. Which lead to me buying Guilty Pleasures at a book sale. I am about halfway through it, and can't put it down. I have since bought the other 18 books in the series. I am working on getting all of her Meredith Gentry series now. When I find a series I like, I like to own all of them so I don't have to wait to read them. I feel silly now for waiting so long to fall for Anita, but the good thing is I have 19 books to read and get lost in her awesome world. Maybe next time I will listen to my friends recommendations.

Oh the desire to do nothing but read.

Hello kittens,
I am once again running around like a crazy person, and doing 5 different things at one time. Of course I am a wife and mother, so I think that just goes with the territory. I so miss the days of laying on the couch and having nothing to do but finish whatever wonderful book I happen to be reading. I didn't fully appreciate that time in my teenage years until now. While I still read everyday and enjoy it so, it is usually in short spans. I will read a few pages while I am cooking dinner, or while I am waiting for the kids to get ready. My favorite time of day is bed time. I almost always spend a few minutes reading before my eyes fall shut. Last night I actually read for hours in bed after everyone else was asleep. It was great. I am completely absorbed in Laurell K Hamilton's Guilty Pleasures right now. I have spent all day thinking about the book, and can't wait to go curl up with in a few minutes.
Well, I hope everyone is curled up with a great read of their own right now. If anyone reads this, please let me know what book has you spellbound right now. Good night kittens, and happy reading.

PERMANENT OBSCURITY

Hello kittens!

I have had the supreme honor of reviewing PERMANENT OBSCURITY: Or a Cautionary Tale of Two Girls and Their Misadventures with Drugs, Pornography and Death by Dolores Santana (as told to Richard Perez). I have to say I truly enjoyed this book. I found myself so wrapped up in Dolores that she felt like a friend. There were times I wanted to throttle her, and times when I felt her pain and frustration so raw that I wanted to take her in my arms and hold her. The book chronicles Dolores and Serena as they go about their lives in a drug induced haze, constantly trying to stay afloat under a mass of doubt and rejection. They are both victimized in different ways. I don't want to spoil it, but have to say they have a money making plan that of course does not go according to plan. This is a great read to keep you enthralled and engaged. Join them and feel what it is like to live as an artist who has so much to give, but noone to give it to.
Thank you to Richard Perez for allowing me to meet these wonderful characters, and trusting me with this story.

So excited to start this blog!!!

Well,  people have been telling me that it isn't so scary to start a blog, and it looks like they were right. I am an avid reader, and love reviewing books. So here I am. I will be reviewing ARC's and other books that are given to me, but also books that I am just reading for myself. I am excited to talk to other book lovers and welcome any and all comments. I am happy to hear if you agree with my reviews or not, and why. Please feel free to let me know what you think. I hope you will join me here, and become a follower. I will be offering giveaways of books I have and others that I win and review.  So for now I can say... Follow me and let's have some reading fun :)
